The Battle: Size vs Body Image
I have realized a lot of the time shopping ruins my self-esteem. I come out not only depressed but also in tears. I used to let it irritate me for weeks at a time. That is why I avoided shopping for the longest time. However, recently I have started to remind myself that every store has a different sizing system. Every store has different styles of clothing that may or may not be flattering on every body type. It has nothing to do with how good you look or how much you’re worth as a person. Some things we can’t change, such as your body shape or what types of clothing look best on you. Keep in mind that as long as you are doing your best at being healthy and leading an active lifestyle, you should be completely ok with any size you end up being. I am a size 10 in jeans in most stores. I used to be a size 6-8 so it bothered me…for about 10 minutes…then I realized those jeans that are a size 6-8 still fit me fine. They might have gotten tighter around my ass (thank you squats!) but they have remained the same in all other places. I have to work on changing my mind set. I should not allow one shopping trip change my opinion of my body or of myself. I am a hard worker and I should remember that and so should you. Working twice as hard for the body you have as other people is a point of pride. You’re not lazy. You’re not worth less than those who don’t have to work for it. You’re so much stronger. You’re so much more than your size. Keep that in mind. Don’t allow something so little ruin your self image. Stay strong.
