Many times I hear things like "OMG you eat peanut butter? But doesn't that have a lot of fat and calories?"
At remarks like that I just want to beat my head against a wall and wonder why people don't research before they speak. Just because something is high in calories doesn't make it unhealthy and just because something is low in calories doesn't make it healthy. Most of the time, when foods that normally have high calories and fat are marked "low fat/low calories" know it is infested with chemicals. Things like peanut butter, if you buy the all-natural kind (look at ingredients for only peanuts, a little bit of salt is fine), for example are great. It has a high level of healthy fats which are good for your skin, nails, hair, etc. There isn't a such thing as food that is a "diet food." When you are trying to lose weight or bulk up, you need to realize you can eat anything as long as it is not processed.and fits in your macros for the day. Make sure you are not depriving yourself of any food, either. Learning what moderation is, is a big factor in whether or not you are successful in your endeavors. If you deprive yourself too much of foods that make you happy, you might end up falling off the bandwagon. You may feel the need to binge. You might binge and keep binging for a few days, weeks, or even months. Having a "cheat meal" every once in a while can help you become more successful and helps you stay on the right path.
