It's Cold Outside!

It's that inevitable time of the year where it's getting colder and you're getting lazier. Every year, about halfway through the semester, I start noticing some extra weight. There are a lot of factors that play into this ordeal every year. Firstly, I stress eat. Halfway through the semester is usually when I realize I need to get myself together and pull up my grades. This is when it begins. Studying all day really makes it hard to eat clean. I usually meal prep and make sure everything is in order, however, I like to munch while studying. This is where I have realized packing extra food is probably better than packing what you think will be "enough". I've realized that while it is bad to overeat even on clean foods, it is better than going to the convenient store and buying unclean foods. It's basically somewhat tying into the law of opportunity costs. How much are you giving up by eating good clean food versus what you're giving up by giving in to the unhealthy mess around you. Secondly, it's getting colder and we're getting lazier. When it gets cold, not only does nobody wants to get out of bed but moving seems like torture. I've just made it my habit to exercise which I'm lucky to have stuck by, however, if exercise is not a habit for you at this point in the year getting off the couch and into the gym can be torturous. In my earlier stages, before I was so in passionately in love with exercise, I too struggled with skipping one too many workouts in the winter. I came up with the idea that setting up a time through the day for an at home workout video would be beneficial. I was correct. Set a time that you will not change under any circumstances, and play your workout video. This can be an enjoyable experience and it will make you feel about 10 times better about yourself. Last but not least, holiday season is coming up and that means cake, pie, turkey, more pie, and basically any other desserts you can think of. I suggest giving into cravings every so often, however, giving in too many times can cause more harm than good. Come up with healthier recipes and/or alternatives to your favorite meals/desserts. Having the original is obviously always more delicious so go ahead and treat yourself! Just make sure to remember, treating yourself every day is not longer a treat. It has become part of your every day diet which can't be good.

I hope this post helps somewhat. I'm trying to update as much as possible, I just haven't been able to do so lately. With school, work, and projects I haven't had time for much of anything.

Thank you!
